Michael McCauley is a Board Member of the Queen of Angeles Foundation. When he is not practicing law, Mr. McCauley serves the local community as a Member of the Board of Managers for the Stuart M. Ketchum Downtown YMCA, as a fundraising chair for a local Cub Scouts Pack 862, as a supporting member of St. James Catholic Church, as a volunteer for various community activities, and as an assistant coach for his youngest son’s baseball team. He received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame (magna cum laude) in 1996 where he also served as an editor for the Notre Dame Law Review and as volunteer in various local charities.
Mr. McCauley is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Jones Day (jonesday.com). He is a trial lawyer who has obtained significant victories for Fortune 500 companies and other industry leaders. He has handled their most contentious cases, including consumer class actions, SEC investigations, securities class actions, product liability class actions, unfair competition cases, and false advertising cases. Recently, Mr. McCauley tried a breach of contract action for DIRECTV in a two-week arbitration that resulted in a judgment of more than $28 million and a complete victory on a counterclaim of nearly $50 million. The Daily Journal recently highlighted this $75 million victory as the seventh highest verdict in California for the calendar year 2010. Mr. McCauley has also devoted significant time to numerous pro bono matters throughout the years.
