Michael M. Maddigan

Mike Maddigan is a Board member and Treasurer of the Queen of Angels Foundation.  When not practicing law, he is active in a variety of community service and charitable activities.  These activities include past service as President of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, serving on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and the Inner City Law Center, coaching youth basketball at the Burbank YMCA, helping to found and coach the mock trial team at St. Francis Xavier School, and periodically treading the boards as a member of the St. Francis Xavier Stage Company.  Along with his family, he is an active parishioner at St. Francis Xavier parish in Burbank, California, where he and his wife assist with marriage preparation and other ministries.

Mike received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service (where he was a Krough Scholar and a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society) and his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley (where he served as an Articles Editor on the California Law Review).  He is partner in the law firm of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.  He specializes in representing health benefits companies, insurers, technology companies, and other emerging companies in complex class action and business disputes involving health care, insurance and reinsurance, antitrust, and business issues. He has achieved victories for clients in cases involving billions of dollars in damages and issues of national significance.  He is the Chair of the Firm’s pro bono committee and has received the firm’s values award for excellence, leadership, and citizenship.

Mike speaks regularly before professional organizations on a variety of litigation related topics and is an author or editor of two books on health care law and a frequently cited article on the religion clauses of the First Amendment.
